(Tom's parents are having breakfast. Tom enters the kitchen.)

Toms Mutter: Guten Morgen, Tom! Es ist fast Mittag! Wann bist du von der Feier zurückgekommen?
Tom's Mother: Good morning, Tom! It's almost midday! When did you get back from the party?

Tom: Ich bin mir nicht sicher. Ich glaube so um 2 Uhr. Es war eine tolle Feier.
Tom: Not sure. I think about 2 a.m. It was a great party.

Toms Vater: Als ich jung war, musste ich vor Mitternacht zu Hause sein.
Tom's father: When I was young I had to be home before midnight.

Tom: Klar. Aber die Zeiten haben sich geändert.
Tom: Sure. But times have changed.

Toms Vater: Ja ich weiß. Hast du also Spaß gehabt?
Tom's father: Yes I know. Did you have a good time then?

Tom: Ja! Es war Johns zwanzigster Geburtstag. Ein paar seiner Freunde warfen ihn dort in den Pool.
Tom: Yes! It was John's 20th birthday. Some of his friends threw him into the pool there.

Toms Mutter: Haha, lustig. Wir haben das auch gemacht, als wir in deinem Alter waren!
Tom's mother: Haha, funny. We did that too when we were your age!

Tom: John fand es nicht lustig. Er hatte sein Handy in seiner Hosentasche.
Tom: John didn't think it was funny. He had his mobile phone in his trouser pocket.

Toms Mutter: Oh, war das Handy kaputt?
Tom's mother: Oh, was the phone broken?

---

Tom: Ja. Er war stinksauer!
Tom: Yes. He was really furious!
